And we’re off …
🧑💻 Marketing word of the week: “(Customer) Journey”
A customer journey is the complete experience a customer has with your brand. It’s everything from their first interaction to their post-purchase engagements.

The customer journey has several stages, from awareness to consideration, decision, retention, and finally advocacy. Understanding the customer journey is important for crafting messaging and campaigns that resonate at each step, identifying pain points, improving the user experience, and guiding potential customers toward conversions.
In SEO, customer journeys are tightly linked to keyword intent (or prompt intent). Users as different stages of their journey search for different types of information. This should also influence the types of content you create, from informational blog posts (a dying art) to product comparisons and testimonials.
🤖 AI word of the week: “Joint embeddings”
Joint embeddings are a technique used in machine learning to map different types of data (think text, images, or audio) into a shared vector space where their relationships can be compared.

The purpose of joint embeddings is to create a unified representation that allows an ML model to understand how data from different modalities relate to each other in terms of meaning or context.
For example, joint embeddings can be used to train a model to understand the connection between images and text, like a sentence about a dog placed in close vector space to a photo of a dog.
😄 Introduction to week 101: “Fresh eyes”
I recently learned that our SEO department is getting a couple of interns and I was tasked with coming up with a training program for them.
At first I put together a list of SEO fundamentals — you know, the type of stuff we were all trained on back in the day — but then I thought, how much of this still applies?
Given the nature of generative AI, our world of SEO is evolving quickly. I thought, is it fair to these interns to train them the same way I was trained 10+ years ago?
But then I thought, what resources are available (and accessible to interns) that I could share? I then figured the best course of action is to do a lot of hands-on training (shadowing) to explain the state of SEO today.
It’s an interesting situation to have people with new perspectives entering the field, and I anticipate I’ll learn as much from their fresh eyes as they will from my experience.
Thank you for supporting Hamsterdam and the cause of SEO & AI learning. 🙏
Enjoy the vibes:
