And we’re off …
🧑💻 Marketing word of the week: “YouTube Marketing”
YouTube marketing, as you may have guessed, is the practice of using YouTube (the world’s second-largest search engine) to promote your brand, product, or idea using video content, ads, or community engagement.
YouTube marketing combines content marketing, social media strategy, and SEO principles to reach target audiences through both organic discovery and paid promotion.
It starts with a channel strategy, where marketers create a branded YouTube channel to host content. Next comes content optimization, or YouTube SEO, where videos are optimized for search by focusing on key elements like titles, descriptions, tags, thumbnails, captions and transcripts, and engagement signals.
There’s also advertising or paid campaigns through YouTube Ads as well as analytics data gathered in GA4.
We’ve seen how multimodal LLMs (and search generally) have become, so having content on YouTube is invariably to your benefit as part of a holistic SEO content strategy.
🤖 AI word of the week: “Y-Axis”
The Y-axis is the vertical axis on a graph or chart. It represents the dependent variable, or the value that changes in response to something else.
In contrast, the X-axis (horizontal) represents the independent variable, or the input or factor that gets manipulated to see how it affects the output.
In other words, the Y-axis shows outcomes, predictions, or performance metrics.
Here’s an example of a chart showing both axes:

😊 Introduction to week 120: “Word Count”
Sometimes we take simple facts for granted, but they’re not always evident to everyone else.
This was the case with me and word counts for SEO content.
My approach to helpful content is that it should have no limitations on word count; the length of a blog post, for example, should be the length that’s necessary to give the reader the best experience based on the topic.
But recently, I spoke with a group of writers who were told that “SEO content should be 1,300 words.” It shouldn’t … at least, not always.
If you’re a writer or new to SEO and have been told that SEO content needs to be a certain length, throw away that notion and instead focus on giving the reader the length that they need, short, long, whatever.
Thank you for supporting Hamsterdam and the cause of SEO & AI learning. 🙏
Enjoy the vibes:
