Hamsterdam Part 145 Weekly SEO/GEO News Summary.

Opening notes, thoughts, and musings:

  • My website is now eligible as a Preferred Source in Google. I’d be grateful if you added me!

And we’re off …

🧑‍💻 Marketing word of the week: “Perceived value”

Perceived value is the worth a customer believes a product or service offers, based on its benefits compared with its costs, including money, time, and effort.

Perceived value infographic.

Perceived value can come from quality, convenience, reputation, emotional appeal, or how well something meets a specific need.

For example, imagine two coffee shops that sell similar coffee, but customers willingly pay more at one because the atmosphere, friendly service, and convenient location make the experience feel worth it.

The lesson for us marketers is that customers don’t judge value by price alone. Marketing helps communicate why an offering is worth choosing.

🤖 AI word of the week: “Superposition”

In neural networks, superposition is when a model represents more features than it has individual dimensions available, using overlapping patterns of activity.

Superposition infographic.

For an analogy, imagine many songs played on the same piano. Each song uses a different combination of keys, but those keys aren’t reserved for just one song. Similarly, a model can reuse the same neurons across different concepts.

Why superposition matters is that it helps explain how models can store rich information efficiently and why examining a single neuron often won’t reveal one clear meaning.

✌️Introduction to week 145: “Don’t forget about Brave”

Nearly every day I publish a new blog post. I submit it for indexing to Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools, but I also submit it to Brave.

Brave’s search results reportedly have overlap with Claude’s grounding sources. That’s reason enough to not forget about its index.

Bookmark the Brave URL submission page and add it to your post-publish steps. You might be glad you did.

Thank you for supporting Hamsterdam and the cause of SEO/GEO learning. 🙏

Enjoy the vibes:

What’s more important: prompt wording or prompt intent?“I don’t think users would search for that” is a common response to outputs of prompt generation or prompt selection. We don’t have a source of data (like AdWords Keyword Planner) to help us adjudicate/validate our prompt selection.🧵 1/7

Google may make more money from search while sending less value to the web. That is my 2027 bet. I make three more predictions about where Google lands, then ask the harder question: will our numbers be good enough to prove them?duaneforresterdecodes.substack.com/p/three-pred…

Joe makes great points on many of the "GEO bros" techniques. Many are clearly spam that work only because the AI providers aren't yet equipped to handle it. They will because in the end the public starts talking about their shite results and survival mode kicks in!ashla.ai/p/is-your-ge…
