Or continue reading for two vocabulary lessons plus an introduction.

And we’re off …
🧑💻 Marketing word of the week: “(Google) Knowledge Graph”
Google’s knowledge graph is a massive database of facts and relationships about people, places, and things. It powers knowledge panels (among other features) and helps Google understand the web better to provide more relevant search results.

The Knowledge Graph is built from various sources, including Wikipedia, Freebase, and other public databases as well as licensed sources of data.
Google’s Knowledge Graph may be the best known, but it isn’t the only one. You can find knowledge graphs used in enterprises and other applications, like e-commerce or healthcare.
🤖 AI word of the week: “K-nearest neighbor”
K-nearest neighbor (k-NN) is a supervised learning algorithm used for classification and regressions tasks. It identifies the ‘k’ nearest data point (neighbors) to a given input and makes predictions based on the majority class (classification) or the average value (regression) of those neighbors.

Rather than building a model during training, k-NN stores the entire dataset and makes predictions based on the similarity between data points. When a new input is introduced, the algorithm calculates the distance (often Euclidean distance) between the new point and all other points in the data set. Then it identifies the ‘k’ closest data points (neighbors) and uses their values to make a prediction.
The simplicity of k-NN makes it easy to understand and implement, but it can also be slow or less effective with large or high dimensional datasets.
😄 Introduction to week 102: “Redirects”
I’m working on a site that recently relaunched on a new CMS. It looks great and operates much better for users. There was just one problem …
There were no redirects implemented.
Adding redirects to webpages that change their URL slugs is important for transferring SEO equity from the old page to the new one, as well as ensuring a smooth user transition (like if anyone had the old pages saved in their favorites or still found them in search results).
The fundamentals of technical SEO are still as important as ever, even as other aspects of our SEO profession evolve.
Thank you for supporting Hamsterdam and the cause of SEO & AI learning. 🙏
Enjoy the vibes:
