And we’re off …
🧑💻 Marketing word of the week: “Extractability”
Extractability refers to how easily search engines and AI assistants can identify, isolate, and reuse useful information from your content.

Extractability is relevant to GEO because content may be discoverable without being easy for an AI assistant to quote, summarize, or include in its answer.
Ways to improve extractability can include clear definitions, statistics, comparisons, headings, and direct answers.
I often advise clients to use semantic triples (subject > predicate > object) and a BLUF (bottom-line-up-front) writing style, as well as to incorporate named entities (as opposed to pronouns). The goal is to write in semantically coherent passages (chunks) that are self-contained.
For example, you could pull any paragraph from this definition, read it in isolation, and understand its context. That’s good extractability.
🤖 AI word of the week: “Context engineering”
Context engineering is the process of selecting, organizing, and supplying the information an AI assistant needs to complete a task.

You might think this sounds like prompt engineering, but context engineering is actually broader. A prompt is typically a single instruction; meanwhile, context can include your conversation history, retrieved documents, your user preferences, other examples, tool outputs, or system instructions.
Anthropic describes context engineering as managing the limited information available to an AI agent so it receives the most useful context at the right time.
How does context engineering connect back to SEO/GEO? Search and retrieval systems help determine which documents and passages enter an AI assistant’s context before it generates an answer. As a result, content relevance, structure, clarity, and retrievability are all important parts of influencing an AI-generated response.
✌️Introduction to week 137: “Ethan Lazuk Consulting 2.0”
I’m happy to announce that I’ve resumed my work as an independent SEO/GEO consultant, this time based in NYC. 🗽
ICYMI, I lost my previous job at Peec AI. The first 24 hours after that were rough, but I’ve always fancied myself a resilient person.
Within the next few days, I had gotten my LLC designation and am now I’m up and running as a consultant:

I’ve always been more of a strategist than a sales person, but I do believe in inbound marketing. As a result, you’ll see me posting more blog posts and YouTube videos in the coming weeks and months and sharing the choice ones on socials.
I’ve been in the SEO/GEO industry since 2015 and I truly love it. Being an independent consultant gives me the freedom to help clients achieve their SEO and AI visibility goals without limits. That’s a great way to operate.
I’m also hoping to attend more conferences this year (after I realized what a great time it was attending MozCon 2026). I hope to see you out there!
Thank you for supporting Hamsterdam and the cause of SEO/GEO learning. 🙏
Enjoy the vibes:
